Do you have a Pan America? Do you have hard aluminum panniers? Do you find them too big, too bulky or even dangerous (trapped leg)? Well these Tucker Speed universal mounting plates are THE answer. And if you haven't already spent 2 paychecks buying hard-boxes (3 paychecks if you bought them from H-D) you should probably invest in a soft bag option first.
I have a 2026 Pan America Limited. Great bike with great big factory panniers and a monstrous top box. I mean really big boxes that just make no sense for a weekend trip unless you're bringing a microwave and a bouncy house which I'm sure would fit neatly into the factory luggage with room to spare.
But that's not me. I want to keep the bike nimble and predictable (weight down low), I want enough room for gear for a weekend camp-out or, if I'm going to be staying in a hotel, I want a bag that detaches easily, is easy to carry (read:has handles like a suitcase) yet is also rugged and well made.
The Tucker Speed mounting plates (which I equipped with the recommended SW Motech bags they sell separately) transformed an already good bike into something great. The plates are precision machined and fit the Harley OEM racks PERFECTLY. No fiddling with them to make them work, no dremels, no hassles and no headaches. You can use your bag of choice (again I bought the recommended ones, no regrets), secure them to the mounting plates (which takes about 5 min) and then just pop them on the bike. No fuss, no muss because everything lines up beautifully and someone there appreciates the fact that simple is better. The clever trailer pin that locks the plate in place is easily replaced if you break/lose it, the aluminum they used for the plates is crazy strong yet still very lightweight. You just can't go wrong with these. Forget Ebay, forget Amazon, buy the right mounting plate the first time and save yourself a lot of time looking for the perfect system 'cause this is it.
